The college football season is finally among us. With that being said, the Razorbacks will face Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday. This is no game for the Hogs to look past.
As we learned last season (in the game against Louisiana-Monroe) it is easy to overlook games, especially when competing in the SEC. One would hope the team learned their lesson last season and we will not have to worry about that problem for a long while.
The Rajin' Cajun's are tough competitors. Last season they finished with nine wins and placed second in the Sun Belt Conference. The Sun Belt is a very up and coming conference with a lot of competition.
Louisiana-Lafayette will be lead by junior quarterback Terrance Broadway. Broadway has already been listed to the Allstate Sugar Bowl Manning Award Preseason Watchlist.
There are two main keys for the Razorbacks to be able to win this game and games in the future.
The first main key is Brandon Allen. Allen has been named the starting quarterback for the Razorbacks this season and has big shoes to fill (Tyler Wilson). He will be the main key component to this season. After watching him perform against Alabama last year (due to Wilson's injury) it is hard to be confident....BUT he has worked all offseason and has been mentioned as the most improved player during offseason.
Allen will have to keep a level head and perform well for the Razorbacks to be able to pick up wins this season. If Brandon Allen plays smart, he has the talent to have a career similar to Wilson.
The final main key is defense. Let's just say the Razorback's defense wasn't the best last year. There was a lot of talent on the defensive side but they just couldn't get the job done (could be due to coaching or lack there of).
Arkansas gave up around 30.4 points per game and also gave up an average of 409.9 yards per game. Arkansas allowed 365 total points and only scored 282 on the season. Let's just say you aren't going to win very many games giving those numbers, especially in the SEC.
All we can hope for Saturday is a new Arkansas team from last season.
