Razorback Soccer Falls Short in Sweet 16

The Arkansas Women's Soccer team fell short to Duke today in penalty kicks. The game was tied 2-2 through two overtimes and the Razorbacks lost in penalty kicks, 5-3.

Duke took a 1-0 lead on Arkansas in the 36th minute. But Arkansas answered in the 67th minute on a header by Ashleigh Ellenwood. Duke answered quickly again with a goal in the 73rd minute. Just two minutes later, the Razorbacks tied the game when Ellenwood found Alexandria Fischer for goal.

The score remained 2-2 through two times, which led to penalty kicks (5-3). This was the first time the Hogs faced penalty kicks all season.

This was a historic season for the Razorbacks, as they went to the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. The team picked up wins over Oklahoma State and St. John to advance to the Sweet 16.

The Razorbacks end the season at 15-8-1, a program best.
