Previous Tournament Wins: North Carolina A&T (16),
79-48; Colorado State (8), 82-56; Oregon (12), 77-69; Duke (2), 85-63
Wichita State Shockers
Coach: Gregg Marshall
Conference: Missouri Valley (12-6)
Previous Tournament Wins: Pittsburgh (8), 73-55; Gonzaga
(1), 76-70; La Salle (13), 72-58; Ohio State (2), 70-66
Prediction: Louisville. Although it would be nice to see an upset, Louisville is playing for a purpose after the injury to Kevin Ware during the Ohio State game. Louisville has been averaging 80.8 points per game in the tournament, higher than any other team. If Wichita State wants to win, they can not allow 80+ points from the Cardinals. Wichita State has been dominating the glass this tournament and will have to continue to do so to pick up the win. But, I believe the Cardinals are going to be too much for Wichita State to handle.
Michigan (4) vs. Syracuse (4)
Coach: John Beilein
Conference: Big Ten (12-6)
Previous Tournament Wins: South Dakota State (13), 71-56; VCU (5), 78-53;
Kansas (1), 87-85; Florida (3), 79-59
Prediction: Syracuse. Michigan has been hot throughout the tournament but Syracuse's defense has been spectacular. Syracuse has held it's opponents to 17.2 percent from behind the arc. Not one of their opponents have made more than four three's. It's become almost impossible for teams to shoot from the outside due to Syracuse's lengthy zone. Michigan relies to much on the three point shot. In order for Michigan to win, they will either have to shoot better than 17 percent from three-point range or find another way to score.
