Anton Beard Commits to Arkansas

Anton Beard committed to Arkansas via Twitter. The four star, point guard is the first commit from the 2014 class.

The 6-foot guard had been committed to Missouri since June, but announced on February 13 that he was decommiting from the Tigers. He listed his final four schools narrowing it down to Arkansas, LSU, Massachusetts and Tennessee.

The Little Rock native will help bring talent in the guard position, which Arkansas is lacking. Arkansas did not sign any guards from the 2013 class and lost BJ Young to the NBA draft.
The team has no true point guards and will struggle at that position this upcoming season.

Mardracus Wade, Rickey Scott and Ky Madden will be the main ball handlers for the Hogs this coming season but none bring outstanding talent at the point guard position. With Wade and Scott being seniors, the Hogs needed a guard from the 2014 class.

Beard is ranked 93rd nationally in the class of 2014 by He is a member of the AAU team, Team Thad. He spent his previous seasons playing at Little Rock Parkview before transferring to North Little Rock for his senior season.
