Brandon Mitchells post on Facebook after announcing he will transfer
Arkansas coach Bret Bielema announced that four Razorbacks will be transferring. Quarterback Brandon Mitchell, wide receiver/running back Keante Minor, defensive end Austin Flynn and safety Defonta Lowe were successfully granted releases after-post spring meetings were completed.
The departure of Brandon Mitchell was the biggest news. The senior came to Arkansas as a quarterback and spent most of his time playing wide receiver. Mitchell said he just wants to play quarterback.
As a backup quarterback Mitchell completed 23 of 45 passes for 332 yards. He was also successful at receiver last season, with 17 catches for 272 yards. He was suspended for four games last season for violating team rules.
Sophomore Brandon Allen will now be the only quarterback for the Hogs with SEC experience. It is likely that transfer A.J. Derby will be the backup to Allen.
Keante Minor was recruited as a receiver and played most of last season as a receiver and kick returner. During spring practices, he was used as a reserve running back, speculation of why he transferring.
Austin Flynn was arrested and charged earlier in the year with driving while intoxicated. Rumors also state academics are the reason for his departure. Defonta Lowe is also transferring due to academic reasons.
There has been no word on where any of the four will transfer.
